19th Century Izmir (Smyrna)
The pictures reflect the multi-ethnical landscape of Smyrna in the 19th century. Most non-muslim minorities of Smyrna left the city in 1922 and the following years. Most Jews emigrated, after Israel was created.

Izmir has a vibrant nightlife. Unfortunately not many of the bars/clubs have websites and are not well represented on the Internet.

If you stroll through Alsancak, you'll find countless bars and clubs with different themes; rock, salsa, jazz, etc. The atmosphere is really great, quite cosmopolitan.
